PHILADELPHIA, PA 21.AUGUST.02-- ROBERT + BEN BYNUM, owners of ZANZIBAR BLUE in Philadelphia as well as WARMDADDY'S+BRAVE NEW WORLD announce the grand opening of ZANZIBAR BLUE/WILMINGTON on Tuesday, September 17th, unveiling the fruits of a deal signed back in May of this year. Expanding upon ZANZIBAR BLUE's 12-year legacy as Philadelphia's premier venue for international cuisine+jazz music, the companion restaurant will open in the ground floor of the prestigious BRANDYWINE BUILDING (1000 West Streey) in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

Festivities begin with a ribbon cutting by the Mayor of Wilmington James Baker, and City Council President Ted Blunt, followed by the opening of the restaurant, featuring hors d'oeuvres + spirits, allowing the public to view for the first time the newly tailored interior of the restaurant. Construction began in June, with interior design overseen by OTTO DESIGN GROUP and architecture by MITCHELL ASSOCIATES. ODG, known nationally for its work on Urban Outfitters, Stussy, MTV, and other retail flagship stores in NY, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, makes its debut into restaurant design with ZANZIBAR BLUE/WILMINGTON. ODG implements some very conceptual design approaches in collaboration with the Bynums and branding engineers MACHINE.

The new restaurant will have seperate dining and performing areas, similar to the original ZANZIBAR BLUE on 11th st. Patrons will also be able to view the open rotisserie kitchen, the two levels of dining + viewing, and further added surprises. ZANZIBAR BLUE/WILMINGTON will also be open to both the public and press for photography and video documentation.

AL PARIS, Executive Chef of ZANZIBAR BLUE, will also oversee the cuisine and execution of ZANZIBAR BLUE/WILMINGTON, as well as create a new menu. The menu is set to feature favorites like Crabcakes, Short Ribs of Beef, Big Island Bass & Shrimp Raft, yet adding an emphasis on woodfire grilled & rotisserie fare.

“We've always believed in creating the perfect marriage for growth," says ZANZIBAR BLUE co-owner ROBERT BYNUM, “We are very proud of the new ZANZIBAR BLUE/WILMINGTON. Wilmington is a hidden jewel that provides a perfect match for our continued growth. We do not view this new restaurant as a sequel to the legendary ZANZIBAR BLUE, so much as an evolution of ZANZIBAR BLUE. And we have every hope to create something lasting+special with this evolution."

Established in 1990, ZANZIBAR BLUE provides a truly unique + elegant experience that melds the best in INTERNATIONAL JAZZ + GLOBAL CUISINE. ZANZIBAR BLUE is unquestionably a music lover's destination, considered home to many of the world's jazz greats such as NANCY WILSON, CHICK COREA, TS MONK, ROY AYERS, TERENCE BLANCHARD, and CHUCK MANGIONE. With LIVE MUSIC SEVEN NIGHTS A WEEK, expect to see jams until the wee hours.
