Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival Heads into Last Three Days!

Rochester, NY -- The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF) presented by M&T Bank, is heading into its last three days tonight, wrapping up June 19. The Festival's ninth edition started Friday June 11 featuring headliners Jeff Beck, Gladys Knight, Keb' Mo', Herbie Hancock, John Pizzarelli, and Bernie Williams.

The Festival is delivering a wide range of creative improvised music from some of the finest musicians in the world. More than 1,000 musicians representing 15 countries are making Rochester their destination as they perform in more than 250 concerts including more than 60 free shows. The Festival is presented in three series and held in 17 venues in and around the East End Cultural District in Downtown Rochester. Park once and walk to most festival venues.

Nightly Jam Sessions - Jazz Never Sleeps!

For late night Jam Sessions don't miss the State St. Bar & Grill in the Rochester Plaza Hotel, official hotel of the Rochester International Jazz Festival. You never know who will stop by to play! Sessions start at 10:30 p.m. and run through 2:30 p.m.

Third Annual Kids Jam Session is June 19

Students ages 14-19 are invited to participate in the third annual Kids Jam Session. Young players will have an opportunity to play with Eastman faculty Bob Sneider, guitar; Paul Hofmann, piano; Jeff Campbell, bass, and Rich Thompson, drums. It all takes place Saturday June 19 at 2 p.m. at the Eastman School of Music, Room 120. Suggested repertoire to practice includes “Tenor Madness," “C Jam Blues," “Rhythm Changes," “Oleo," “St Thomas," “So What," “Autumn Leaves," “Blue Bossa," “Straight No Chaser," “Mr. P.C." and other jazz standards. Sign-up starts at 1:30 p.m. and is first-come first-served basis.
