Experimental Jazz/rock guitarist and improviser Willie Oteri (renown for his work on the more progressive side with names such as Tony Levin and Mike Kenally) has released his new project WD-41 first “download only” album. Official release date is June 16 although high quality mp3 files are presently ready for download at CD Baby with iTunes and several other download sites to follow soon.
WD-41 is an experimental duo with Oteri on guitar, improvised loops and delays and Austin jazz vet David Laczko on trumpet and delays.
The sound is familiar while also odd and unique. The recordings are of live sessions direct to two tracks but one would not guess it upon first listen. According to their blog these recordings are made with just one loop pedal and two Lexicon digital delays and all tracks totally improvised.
