William Carn's Run Stop Run Releases Self-Titled Debut on Mythology Records.

Run Stop Run is the latest project from Juno-nominated trombonist William Carn. Produced by influential saxophonist/composer David Binney, this debut recording showcases Run Stop Run's contemporary sound. Lush and warm, this recording incorporates infectious grooves with lyrical melodies. Run Stop Run (RSR) is a collective in every sense of the word. Lead by Carn, this quartet features four of Canada's top jazz artists performing their own brand of eclectic, original, modern jazz music. The recording offers original compositions from various members of the band including three from David Binney, four from William Carn, and remainder from band mates Jon Maharaj and Don Scott. The tracks, twelve in total, create a variety of sound & texture that simply allow for this ensemble to stand alone in its sound. William Carn who has performed with numerous top jazz artists over the past several years, has joined forces with the great David Binney for this project, which is also released on Binney's self owned Mythology record label. William Carn's Run Stop Run is made up of William Carn on trombone &vocal, Don Scott on guitar, Jon Maharaj on bass, Ethan Ardelli on drums and special guest David Binney on keyboards/programming & vocal.

About William Carn:

Trombonist William Carn has emerged as one of Canada's leading contemporary jazz composers and performers. His debut release, Other Stories, was nominated for a 2007 Juno Award as Traditional Jazz Album of the Year. He has also been nominated for Trombonist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards from 2004 to 2008. As a bandleader, William currently leads several groups; the William Carn Quintet and a new quartet Run Stop Run, both featuring some of Canada's finest musicians. The William Carn Quintet includes Kelly Jefferson, saxophones; David Braid, piano; Jon Maharaj, bass; and Anthony Michelli, drums. The WCQ has toured across Canada and has become an established fixture in the Canadian jazz landscape. Run Stop Run showcases a trombone and guitar frontline along with bass and drums. This exciting group features the talents of Don Scott, guitar; Jon Maharaj, bass; and Ethan Ardelli, drums.

He has performed and recorded with jazz artists including Rob McConnell, Randy Brecker, David Binney, Kenny Wheeler, Ingrid Jensen, Tim Hagans, Barry Harris, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Vince Mendoza, Don Braden, Mike Murley, Hilario Duran, Emile-Claire Barlow, Dionne Taylor, Andrew Downing, Jim McNeely, John Clayton, and Don Thompson. William also enjoys a diverse freelance career and is a regular member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival orchestra. Studio and concert engagements have included Aretha Franklin, Paul Anka, Feist, Sarah Slean, Royal Wood, Hawksley Workman, Jully Black, Melissa McClelland, Luc Doucet, Emily Haynes, Kathleen Edwards, Jon Secada, Peabo Bryson, Sheena Easton, Christopher Cross, Michael Kaeshammer, Jill Barber, Sophie Millman, Jeff Healy, Colin James, Jack Soul, and Jarvis Church. William has also been featured on over 200 commercial recordings as a performer.

Currently William is a member of many ensembles including David Clayton-Thomas, Hilario Duran Big Band, Kieran Overs Eleven, the Bernie Senensky Septet, the Andy Ballantyne Large Ensemble (ABLE), the Paul Read Orchestra (PRO), the Art of Jazz Orchestra, the Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra, and the Urban Arts Brass Ensemble. William is a Rath Trombone Artist as well as a clinician and teacher.
