On Friday, October 15, the Whitney Museum's SoundCheck series presents downtown pioneer of avant-garde music Arto Lindsay on guitar. Lindsay, who grew up in Brazil, fuses rhythms, melodies, and verbal expressions from diverse cultures and musical genres. His provocative music transcends the limitations of free improvisation and noise works to embrace pop forms in his own unique synthesis of musical styles. A respected vocalist, musician, producer, and songwriter, Lindsay has collaborated with figures such as David Byrne, Brian Eno, Laurie Anderson, and John Zorn.
