Westchester County, NY - The Westchester Jazz Orchestra (WJO), a 15-piece nonprofit jazz orchestra featuring world-class jazz musicians who live in and near Westchester County, will perform newly-commissioned arrangements of hits from the Motown era on Saturday, June 2 at 8 PM. The concert will be held at the Seven Bridges School in Chappaqua.

WJO will put its jazz spin on songs recorded by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, The Supremes, as well as others who contributed to the inimitable Motown sound.

WJO was recently lauded as “one of the most incredible jazz orchestras in the entire country, let alone county" by Jazz Improv's New York Jazz Guide. Indeed, the band is a unique resource, a first-rate ensemble that commissions its own arrangements and performs locally, but that is made up of some of America's finest jazz artists. Members are master musicians ranging from outstanding group leaders to seasoned individual performers who have played and recorded with world-renowned pop, rock, Latin, Broadway and jazz stars.

Led by Artistic Director Mike Holober, the musicians include trumpeters Craig Johnson, Tony Kadleck, Jim Rotondi, and Marvin Stamm; saxophonists Jay Brandford, David Brandom, Ralph Lalama, and Ed Xiques; Larry Farrell, George Flynn, and Keith O'Quinn on trombone; pianist Ted Rosenthal; bassist Harvie S and drummer Tony Jefferson.

WJO's concerts are partially funded by the New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Ginsburg Community Fund, and other foundations and individual donors.

On Sept. 29, WJO will begin its fifth season at the Irvington Town Hall Theater in Irvington, New York.

Reserved seating tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for senior citizens, and $15 for students. Call WJO at 914-861-9100 or order online at our website. Walk-ins are welcome.
