WDNA 'Jazz Encounter' Uniting Generations of Jazz Musicians

The 3rd Friday of each month, beginning August 20, WDNA presents Jazz Encounters—uniting generations of jazz musicians—where young musicians are invited to jam with some of the best musicians in South Florida.

The venue WDNA Jazz Gallery, 2921 Coral Way, the sessions bring together musicians of varying ages and ethnic backgrounds, male and female, together in an informal setting with the common purpose of establishing a relationship around music and its history.

Says the 'Serious Jazz' radio brief, Jazz Encounters is a celebration of America's classical music that creates an awareness of the importance of music education, provides personal musical encounters between diverse individuals, and exposes the radio audience to the rich talent in the next generation of musicians.

Jazz Encounters, which began with the Nicole Yarling 4tet with John Yarling on drums, Chuck Bergeron on bass, Dave Seigel on piano, contines next month, Friday, September 17, 2010 8PM with South Florida Jazz Orchestra, A modern Big Band comprised of many of the best jazz and studio musicians in the southeast US.
