Veteran saxophonist, vocalist, educator, and dedicated performer Walter Beasley will hit the Birchmere stage next week to celebrate the release of his Heads Up debut album For Her.

A versatile player, Beasley is known for his crowd-pleasing shows and diversity of styles. Over more than two decades of recording and performance, Beasley has partnered with a stellar cast from both the jazz and R&B world, including Stephanie Mills, Vanessa Williams, Brian McKnight, Gerald Albright, Kirk Whalum, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Dexter Gordon, Bob James, Ronnie Laws, Everett Harp and Norman Brown.

Beasley’s soulful music and earnest expression of emotion are well suited to his latest project, an autobiographical musical documentation of a romance from first bliss to final break-up. Catch him at the Birchmere for a survey of his past and present work.

Details: Friday, September 9th and Saturday, September 10th. Showtime for both days is 7:30pm. Tickets are $29.50. The Birchmere is located at 3701 Mt. Vernon Ave. in Alexandria, VA. For more information and tickets, please call 703-549-7500 or visit www.birchmere.com.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
