Front box auction proceeds benefit Monterey Jazz Festival's jazz education Programs


May 18, 2006; Monterey, California; For the past six weeks, streams of jazz fans have participated in the Monterey Jazz Festival's 2006 Front Box Auction, enthusiastically bidding up to $3000 to date on four of the best seats for the 49th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival Presented by Verizon September 15-17. As the Front Box Auction ends at 4pm on Thursday, June 1st, music aficionados are encouraged to place their bids immediately for the experience of a lifetime at the world's longest-running jazz festival.

Every year, music fans have the opportunity to win four of the best seats at the Festival: the front box seats for the Arena/Lyons Stage of the Monterey Jazz Festival. Those who win the coveted MJF seats witness living jazz history with spectacular, unparalleled views. This year's winners will be able to virtually wipe the sweat off the brows of the festival's stellar headline performers, set to include Oscar Peterson, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Brubeck, McCoy Tyner, Keb'Mo', Chris Botti and many more. The auction package includes the front box seats plus one weekend-long parking pass, four VIP Artist Bar Passes, and four Souvenir Programs.

Proceeds from the auction benefit the Monterey Jazz Festival's Jazz Education Programs, including the Traveling Clinicians Program, MJF Summer Jazz Camp, and other outreach projects that change the lives of youth through music education.

MJF also encourages fans to support Jazz Youth Education by participating in the MJF Silent Auction. During the Festival, patrons can visit the MJF Booth in the center of the midway for the MJF Silent Auction featuring a wide array unique jazz memorabilia and collector's items.
