Christopher Burnett departs studio instruction after teaching weekly lessons since 2001.

Tune Shop, Inc. today announced the departure of Chris Burnett from its weekly studio teacher roster after eleven years of providing private woodwind lessons at the store. Mr. Burnett will remain associated with the Tune Shop, Inc. in his role as an official Selmer (Paris) Saxophone artist and Conn-Selmer Performing Artist and Clinician. Tune Shop, Inc. is an authorized full service Conn-Selmer dealer.

Mr. Burnett departs studio instruction after having taught weekly woodwind private lessons in Leavenworth at the Tune Shop since 2001. “Teaching private lessons at the Tune Shop has been great and an integral aspect of my work as a professional musician," said Burnett, an active professional performing and recording artist signed with the Artists Recording Collective music label, who also works full-time as the Marketing Communications Manager at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

“We were truly fortunate to contract with a teacher of Chris’ caliber. He is an amazing combination of musical talent and patient mentorship that draws the best from his students. Chris is also a crucial strategic partner for the Tune Shop, generously providing access to other talented professional musicians across the metro Kansas City area. Chris defines “class act” and I would recommend his professional services anytime," noted Abi Ahrens, Vice- President of the Tune Shop, Inc. Mr. Burnett will remain associated with the business as a clinician to local schools.

“His role changes from teaching 30-minute private lessons to a studio of 30 to 40 students each week, to that of an artist clinician who reaches larger groups of students,” stated Eric Rathburn, President of the Tune Shop, Inc. “When a number of hard-earned musical career opportunities are realized simultaneously as they suddenly have for Chris, modifications to one’s schedule must occur. And, I know of no person more deserving than this artist. We are prepared to initiate a seamless transition,” Rathburn concluded.

Chris Burnett began his professional career at 18 years old, served a career in military bands for 22-years, then transitioned to a significant professional musical career that includes recording, performing and teaching. The Tune Shop, Inc. is a full-service retail music store located in Leavenworth, Kansas and predominantly serves musicians and music programs in the northeast Kansas City metro area.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
