IT'S A HARDBOP LIFE, the new jazz play that features top musicians as principal actors, will make its New York debut as a Special Event during the 2004 New York JVC Jazz Festival.

The play will run for one week, June 22-27, at the Signature Theatre/Peter Norton Space.

We are offering a limited number of Priority Passes over the next couple of weeks, which represent a 50% discount to the play. Regular price tickets are $50.00.

Briefly, the play is about a young college basketball star named Q. (played by former Duke Ellington Orchestra trombonist and Art Blakey protege, Gregory Charles Royal) who through a dream, finds himself and his friends back in 1964 New York to debut a funky style of jazz called Hardbop.

Filled with comedy and tragedy, the play is filled with plenty of hard hitting music and features musicians from the bands of Ellington, Basie and Blakey.

This is a must see performance as it represents the first time top musicians have been featured as the principal actors in a play. Written by Gregory Charles Royal. Original direction by Mike Malone.
