Triple Star Power Every Night at Ottawa International Jazz Festival '09

Ottawa (Wednesday, April 8, 2009): Dynamic, award-winning programming continues in the 29th year of the TD Canada Trust Ottawa International Jazz Festival. After its extraordinary lineup last year, 2009's star power is bigger with more music and more concerts! From June 25 - July 5 the Ottawa Jazz Festival will present over 800 musicians in more than 160 concerts over 11 days.

This year music lovers will be treated to three concerts each night on the Main Stage at Confederation Park. For the first time in the Festival's history, two Concert Under the Stars shows will be presented each evening, one at 7:30 pm and the other at 9 pm. The 7:30 pm series will feature stars: Dave Douglas Brass Ecstasy, Kind of Blue at 50 featuring Jimmy Cobb's So What Band, Trombone Shorty, Julian Lage Group, Esperanza Spalding, The Three Tenors, Bad Plus, Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band.

The 9pm Concert Under the Stars features: Roberta Gambarini Quartet; SMV with Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten; Gary Burton Revisited with Pat Metheny; Al Green; Maria Schneider Orchestra; Chris Botti Quintet; Wayne Shorter Quartet; Chucho Valdés; AL Di Meola; and Charles Lloyd Quartet.

The Great Canadian Jazz series at 6pm features the nation's most prolific jazz musicians: Alicia Borisonik Argentinian Project, this year's Juno award-winner Jane Bunnett Embracing Voices with Grupo Desandan, Steve Koven Trio, Josh Rager Sextet, Brandi Disterheft Sextet, Andr Leroux Quartet and Le Delphinus Jazz.

“We are delighted to program such a diverse and distinguished group of artists for our audience," explains Executive Producer Catherine O'Grady. “This year's line-up is a power house of the world's finest jazz musicians."
