WHAT: The 10th Anniversary Tribute concert to the late jazz/classical violinist Noel Pointer will feature world re-known Jazz/Bandleader Violinist Regina Carter Quintet and Grammy Award Winner Dave Valentin. Also on the bill is The Great Day Chorale, and, of course, The Noel Pointer Youth String Ensemble.
WHEN: 8 PM, December 17
WHERE: Prospect Heights High School, 883 Classon Avenue across from the Brooklyn Museum.
WHY: To raise money and awareness for The Noel Pointer Foundation. Named for the late, great jazz and classical violinist, Noel Pointer, the foundation The program has successfully taught hundreds of inner-city public school children how to play classical music. It currently serves 850 children and their families in 21 public schools and three day care centers. A good number of music students from the program have gone onto The Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard Music Advancement Program, and the LaGuardia Music and Performance Arts High School.
