PREMIERE VOCAL JAZZ QUARTET RELEASES CHRISTMAS CD

November 3, 2005 (Chicago, IL) -- TONIC Vintage Vocals, Chicago's premiere vintage vocal jazz quartet, have released their second CD “It Ain't Over 'Til the Fat Man Swings". The highly anticipated new album is a Christmas swingfest dedicated to the Jolly Old Elf himself. “It Ain't Over 'Til the Fat Man Swings" is 12 swank cuts of hip holiday fun. Solid 4-part jazz vocals blend a new brand of yuletide cheer on snazzy arrangements of popular classic favorites (Up On the Housetop, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, Here Comes Santa Claus) and spankin' original Santa sounds. “TONIC is indeed a tonic and music to my ears, producing a sound that is fresh and refreshingly new today," the late great Cy Coleman wrote just before his passing last year.

Think Manhattan Transfer meets The Rat Pack... with a little Louis Prima thrown in just for the Swing of it! Born in 2003 this remarkable blend of four friends, four lifetimes of performing and recording, and four opinions that the 30-year span from 1930-1959 was the greatest songwriting era in the history of music has made a respected name for themselves in the modern world of pop vocal jazz.

In two short years Tonic has landed a targeted national and international following and the attention of critics with their catchy, classic sound. TONIC's emphasis on fine lyrics, sweet melodies, and top-flight vocal flare is the cornerstone of their successful endeavor. The founding and ongoing goal of the group is to celebrate the “Classic American Jazz Songbook" and introduce “New Standards" that help keep the tradition alive!

Beyond successful performance at corporate events, clubs, and private venues they're enjoying extensive radio airplay with their self-titled debut album, released in December of 2004. The group shares a combined 70 years of professional vocal performance and, individually, have logged several thousand live stage appearances across the country and around the world, singing on bills with Ella Fitzgerald, Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, Kenny Rogers, and other leaders in the vocal industry. “We are a niche group delivering the top-brass quality in a niche musical style and essence," bass and primary writer Steve Multer explains. “We believe strongly that the Tin Pan Alley and Big Band eras nurtured the best writers and performers of popular music the world has ever known. The songs they penned and the recordings they left behind will last for many years to come, long beyond anything that's been written before or since. We want to do our part to continue in the footsteps those creative geniuses laid down." Tenor and arranger Paul Langford adds: “We love it all - rock, modern pop, country, techno, good hip-hop, bebop - there's quality music out there for every genre in today's market. But Songbook popular jazz got left behind in the general psyche and certainly in music sales. We want to remind everyone how great this material is, was and always has been. Our hope is to make the sound of the Swing Era totally fun, approachable, cool and fashionable for everybody."

“It Ain't Over 'Til the Fat Man Swings" will be featured in the upcoming film “Have a Nice Death" by 2-time Sundance winning director Sherrie Robertson and is expected to receive great attention from critics and radio listeners this holiday season.
