This music is best described as “jazz musicians who didn't learn to play in a college" meet"singer-hornplayer with zero tolerance for bad songwriting." The band has been steadily gigging around NYC at museums, bars, and performance spaces, and attracting a growing audience. Led by Jay Collins at vocals, tenor & soprano sax, flute, and bansuri, the band features Dred Scott at piano, Diego Voglino on drums, and John Robinson on bass fiddle.

Jay Collins has worked in the bands of diverse artists, some of them legendary. They include: Andrew Hill (jazz pianist/composer), Gregg Allman (rock icon), Bobby Sanabria (afro-cuban percussionist), and LeRoy Vinnegar (be-bop bassist,1928-1999). Jay composes all music and lyrics for the group.

The band's influences are Mose Allison, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Tom Waits, Pharaoh Sanders, Bob Dylan, Hariprasad Chaurasia,Eddie Harris, etc....

“Some musicians simply sound good and Mr. Collins is one of them. He has flow, his ideas rolling out of the horn with a narrative sense..." --New York Times
