TIEMPO LIBRE

Performing tunes from their new CD, My Secret Radio (Sony Masterworks), Tiempo Libre returns to SFAB after three years of touring, recording and performing with such artists as Albita, Cachao, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Joshua Bell and Sir James Galway. Their new CD is a celebration of the music they heard while living in Cuba (despite the government ban), which was being broadcast by Miami's radio stations. It fueled their dreams of living in the U.S. and gave them the desire to leave family, friends and their country all behind them. In 2001, seven members realized their dream of forming the first, all-Cuban Timba band in the U.S. Ten years later, now based in Miami, Tiempo Libre has garnered three Grammy nominations, performed on The Tonight Show and Dancing With The Stars and now records for Sony Masterworks. Bring your dancin' shoes and enjoy Tiempo Libre's high-energy combination of Latin Jazz, the traditional Cuban music called Son and American musical genres Funk and Jazz.

Please tune in worldwide on our Internet site at WLRN.Org at 1:00pm, EST on 5/27/11, for the broadcast.

This show is generously co-sponsored by Pollo Tropical and Friends of WLRN.
