Who is Tim Tobias? Only the best kept secret in jazz piano in Chicago! In January, he brings his signature style to Joe's BeBop Cafe every Thursday from 5PM to 8PM. Joe's is located at 700 E. Grand at Chicago's famous Navy Pier.

He will also be appearing in a trio with vocalist Lorraine Denham at Philander's in Oak Park, January 10th and February 7th from 9PM to 1AM.

Tim is gaining visibility with his CD of original jazz compositions, “Speaking In Tones" that has been receiving national radio play and critical acclaim.

  • Jim Edwards of WCLK in Atlanta said “Speaks the language of jazz loud & clear! Wonderful jazz music!"

  • Dave Nathan of allaboutjazz.com said “Bill Evans still casts his net of influence...His cool lyrical way with music is reflected in Tobias' playing."

  • And Paul Abella of WDCB-FM said “Tim Tobias's new CD is fantastic! He clearly holds his own amongst the crowded field of top-notch albums coming out of Chicago."

Come hear Tim's strong, distinctive, and singularly AUTHENTIC Chicago-style jazz. And let's not keep this talent a secret anymore.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
