Upcoming dates include Dec. 20 and Jan 31at the Cornelia St. Cafe. Both clubs are in NYC. Tim will also be featured in the upcoming NY jazz festival in Sept. His latest CD Ive Traveled So Far", has been called the best jazz piano trio CD in recent years by Dan Karcher of America's jazz station WBGO.

Formanek received Chamber Music America's New Works: Creation and Presentation Grant for 2000-2001 to compose a new piece for the Tim Berne/Michael Formanek Duo.
Formanek is a consistent presence on the touring circuit in the US and abroad. He has performed his own music regularly with a wide range of ensembles, and is involved in ongoing projects including Tim Berne
