Peter Shapiro, the legendary concert promoter and venue owner, announced that he’s promoting dozens of family-friendly Grateful Dead tribute shows across the United States on Father’s day.

The shows, part of Shapiro’s “Rock & Roll Playhouse” concert series, are aimed at providing concert experiences to kids and helping them connect with their parent’s music.“Celebrate the Grateful Dad in your life this Father’s Day Weekend with The Rock and Roll Playhouse as we play The Music of Grateful Dead for Kids in 25 of America’s greatest music venues! Our family concerts bridge the gap between the music you love and your children.”

In a recent interview with Billboard’s Dave Brooks, Shapiro outlined the structure of the Rock & Roll Playhouse shows. “The kids who attend are usually aged between two to seven and each show is 75 to 90 minutes and end with the staff bringing out a big parachute for the encore,” Shapiro said.

Shapiro added that the music is generally catered to the youthful demographic with songs containing potentially controversial lyrics such as drug references left out of the set list.

Shows scheduled mostly during the day on June 16th include performances at The Aggie Theatre, Ardmore Music Hall, Boulder Theater, Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, The Charleston Pour House, City Winery Nashville, Echoplex, First Avenue, Gallagher Way, Garcia’s, Grey Eagle, Gypsy Sally’s, Higher Ground, Industry City, Mohawk, Port City Music Hall, Saturn, Showbox, Sweetwater Music Hall, Terminal West, Thalia Hall, The Funky Biscuit, and The Haunt.
