Thelonious Dub, Hollywood based modern jazz quartet led by guitarist Joe Bartone, launches their first full-length studio effort with a special CD release party to be held at Home Restaurant and Lounge in Silverlake on Saturday, October 24 at 7pm.

The CD Release Party is open to the public and features sets by both Thelonious Dub and The Brad Rabuchin Trio led Ray Charles guitarist Brad Rabuchin now teaching at Musician's Institute. There is no admission cover.

Thelonious Dub plays a unique mix of jazz, New Orleans, reggae-dub and “shoe-gazer" styles. Their live shows offer original material and instrumental versions of songs from Radiohead, The Police, and Sam Cooke as well as innovative versions of Monk, Mingus and Miles.

Their self-titled first release is an eclectic 60 minutes produced and arranged by Bartone. The 11 tracks feature the compositions of Monk, Shorter, Miles, Mingus and Bartone. Joe Bartone's guitars, sitars, melodica, and synths are teamed with Sean Rainey - drums, Kyle O’Donnell - saxophone, Danny Frankel - percussion, Simon Smith – bass and features a horn section.

Founded in August of 2007, Thelonious Dub has played over 200 shows developing their signature sound of inventive exploration. Modeled after the “Modern Lounge" sound, T-Dub draws from groups and artists like Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Massive Attack, Thievery Corporation and Sly & Robbie. To pursue this sound, Thelonious Dub adds electric sitar and a wide array of guitar effects.

Media outlets including The Los Angeles Times, the LA Weekly, Glendale News Press, Pasadena Weekly, Pasadena Star News, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, LAist.com and the influential jazz blog MetalJazz.com have given the band significant coverage.
