LEGENDARY LIVE ALBUM TO BE REISSUED IN A 4 CD BOX SET
To mark the 40th anniversary of the 1970 release of The Who's Live at Leeds, Geffen/Universal will release a “Super Deluxe" 4 CD box set on November 16. Having been reissued and expanded from the original six tracks twice before (in 1995 and 2001), the new set will include the complete 150 minute version of the February 14 Leeds University concert, as well as a double CD of the recording from the February 15 Hull City Hall concert.
The Hull City Hall concert, considered by the band themselves to be the superior performance, was originally intended as the live album but was later shelved due to “technical difficulties" in the recording. Both concerts contain a complete performance of Tommy.
The Super Deluxe 4 CD box set also includes a reproduction of the original vinyl album in heavyweight vinyl, a 64- page hardcover book with pics, memorabilia and recording notes from the shows, a seven-inch 45 single of “Summertime Blues" b/w “Heaven and Hell" in a color sleeve and a Pete Townshend poster.
