Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has announced a slew of festival appearances and intimate club dates including a hometown show at the Independent in San Francisco on August 6, 2011. Hart will also join Bill Kreutzmann for a very special Rhythm Devils' (Kreutzmann & Hart) performance at the Garthering of the Vibes Festival in Bridgeport, CT, before heading out on the road with his band.

On tour, Hart will perform brand new material that he has yet to perform live, as well as selections of his greatest hits and Grateful Dead songs. Hart is currently holed up in his studio in Sebastopol, CA recording his new solo album to be released in 2012.

Hart last released the Global Drum Project with Zakir Hussain, Sikiru Adepoju, and Giovanni Hidalgo in 2007, which took home the Grammy for Best Contemporary World Music Album. All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
