It's been over 40 years since harmonicist/pianist/vocalist Corky Siegel and guitarist/vocalist Jim Schwall met as college students and formed the Siegel-Schwall Band, one of Chicago's most beloved blues groups. Their subtle, acoustic-flavored blues, original songs and inventive interpretations of classics by blues greats were their calling card, fusing urban blues and folk into their own unique sound. In addition to their recordings, the band was renowned for their high energy, good-time live shows.

From the mid-1960s through the mid-1970s, the Siegel-Schwall Band recorded ten critically acclaimed albums and toured relentlessly. The group went on hiatus in 1974 while band members pursued other interests.

Reforming in 1987, The Chicago Tribune proclaimed, “The news that Siegel-Schwall is back together is something to celebrate." The Siegel-Schwall Band's latest CD “Fast Forward" was their first full album of new material in 30 years.

Day 2-- The Festival features John Hammond with special guests The Thornetta Davis Band, Johnnie Bassett, The Rumpshakers and John Latini Saturday, January 3 - Doors 7 p.m. - $25

From coffeehouses to concert halls, festivals and beyond, John Hammond has spent forty years entertaining blues, folk and rock audiences around the world, per forming intense solo-acoustic blues. A Grammy Award winner and four time nominee, Hammond is also a multiple W.C. Handy award winner who has shared the stage and/or recorded with many of the masters, including Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf. John has recorded over thirty albums and his passionate commitment to traditional blues made him the natural choice to host the BRAVO TV special and Sony Home Video, “The Search for Robert Johnson".

His latest album, “Push Comes To Shove", was released to glowing reviews from Time Out New York, the Washington Post, American Songwriter and many more. The disc was produced by longtime Hammond fanatic G Love (Garret Dutton III) and features Stephen Hodges on drums, Marty Ballou on bass and Bruce Katz on piano and organ. Hammond wrote an unprecedented five original songs for the album, along with new renditions of tunes by Little Walter, Junior Wells, Tom Waits and more.

The Anti-Freeze Blues festival is a yearly fundraising event for the Detroit Blues Society. The Detroit Blues Society is a non-profit organization that keeps the rich blues history alive by presenting workshops and events throughout the Metropolitan-Detroit area.
