Creole Restaurant and Music Supper Club proudly presents Grady Tate & Quintet in concert as part of its Jazz Legacy Series on Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th at 8:00 and 10:00 PM at Creole, 2167 Third Avenue, Corner of 118th Street, NYC.

For over 40 years, Grady Tate has been one of the worlds most versatile and frequently recorded musicians. His resume includes stints with everyone from Quincy Jones and Duke Ellington to Aretha Franklin, Stan Getz, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson where he was house drummer for six years.

World-renowned as a drummer extraordinaire, his warm baritone voice has been equally lauded. Nat Hentoff in the Village Voice describes Tate as “the best singer to emerge from the ranks of instrumentalist since Nat Cole.” Known for interpreting the emotional power of words and melody, Grady’s musical dimensions inform his performances as a compelling singer and virtuoso drummer across many musical genres.

Creole is known for its quality food and music and for bringing Jazz back uptown. Located in the heart of East Harlem, its ambiance is reminiscent of the nostalgic early jazz supper clubs that spawned the careers of countless jazz and blues artists who went on to make history. At Creole, one is immediately comforted by warmth and hospitality, as well as international cuisine, which features dishes such as blackened spice catfish, sweet potato beignets, and 20 variations of classic gumbo. Proprietor Kevin Walters prides himself on this unique environment that marries art, music, culture, entertainment, food and a sense of community in one location.
