The Jazz Bridge “Jazz at the Center,” First Wednesdays Neighborhood Concerts Series at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Ashbourne Road in Cheltenham—presents bassist Ed Wise and his New Orleans Jazz Band on Wednesday, December 3. One show starts at 7:30 p.m., tickets are $10/$5 for students, and are only available at the door. For info: 215-517-8337.

As a bassist, bandleader and arranger, Wise has a wealth of experience in both mainstream and traditional jazz, having worked with artists ranging from Red Garland and Al Hirt to Herb Ellis and Mose Allison. Wise came to Philadelphia in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, after spending a dozen years in New Orleans, and formed his New Orleans Jazz Band, which has become one of the most popular attractions on the East Coast traditional jazz circuit. And his Jazz Bridge appearances have—deservedly—often been sell-outs.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
