The Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band is co-led by Vince Herring on alto/soprano saxophones and Louis Hayes on drums with Jeremy Pelt on trumpet, Rick Germanson on piano, and Vincente Archer on bass. Of the great saxophonists of the 1950s and 1960s, one of the best was alto saxophonist Julian Cannonball Adderley. Possessing an impassioned, soulful sound and an engaging, charismatic personality, Cannonballs career took off in the late 1950s as a member of Miles Davis sextet. In 1959, he reunited with his brother, cornet player Nat Adderley, to form the band that would remain a major success until Cannonballs sudden death in 1975.

Straight out of this tradition, Vince Herring and Louis Hayes are the perfect bandleaders to mount a tribute to Cannonball. Drummer Hayes was a member of Cannonballs quintet from 1959-65 while alto saxophonist Herring was heavily influenced by Adderley in his formative years and also played with Nats quintet. Together Hayes, known for his energetic, unrelenting swing, and Herring, a Chamber Jazz audience favorite and a formidable talent in his own right, have amassed some of the hottest jazzmen around to pay tribute to a great master of the saxophone. Sit back while the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band brings a bit of nostalgia back to the present for all to enjoy.

Upcoming concerts include the Annual Jazz Masters concert featuring the Barry Harris Trio on Sunday, March 19, 2006 and the Premium Concert featuring the Gary Burton/Makoto Ozone Duo on Sunday, April 23, 2006.
