The programme of these admission-free talks will be announced in May.

Activities for refugees

The festival will once again collaborate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to welcome refugees based in Turkey, in its concerts. In 2016, the festival hosted refugees in Damon Albarn & Syrian Musicians Orchestra concert, and last year, in the Basel Rajoub & the Syrian Women's Choir's performance.

Instructor trainings for musicians

This year, the Istanbul Jazz Festival will undertake an “instructor training" for professional musicians, in collaboration with the Boğaziçi University. Within the scope of this project, academics from Boğaziçi University will give pedagogical traning to professional musicians who want to organise musical activities for children. The project will culminate in the selection of trainers from among the applicants, who will then take part in the projects on “A Childlike Day” at the 25th Istanbul Jazz Festival.
