Jazz. Funk. Blues. Wine. Yoga. Paradise.

Telluride Jazz Celebration is proud to announce an outstanding lineup for its 35th Anniversary year. The 2011 lineup showcases the very best artists in classic, mainstream and progressive jazz along with blues, cajun, pop, funk and soul. This year's festival will be held August 5-7 in Town Park in Telluride, CO. Night shows are held throughout the town's many histori clubs and theaters. As in recent years, there will be a Friday evening wine tasting and morning yoga in the park. And as always, Telluride's most intimate festival will cap ticket sales at 3,000 ensuring the audience a Town Park experience like no other.

The lineup includes Paquito D'Rivera, Tower Of Power, Allen Toussaint, Rita Coolidge, Taylor Hicks, The Clayton Brothers, The Bad Plus, Edmar Castaneda, Robert Walter, Adam Deitch, The March Fourth Marching Band, Lisa Haley & The Zydekats, Melvin Taylor and many more. Just as in past years when artists such as Grammy winner Esperanza Spalding graced the stage, the Jazz audience will be treated to performances by some of the best undiscovered talent.

“This is the most musically diverse, high energy and fun program we're seen in a long time here at Telluride Jazz," says Jazz Executive Director Paul Machado. “From straight ahead and cutting edge jazz trios, ensembles and big bands to funk and soul and from New Orleans to Cuba to Brazil to Bogota, it's going to be a cultural and musical feast."

As always, The Telluride Jazz Celebration will welcome an esteemed Guest of Honor, for whom the stage will be named. This year, we proudly welcome Paquito D'Rivera whose life and career are a tribute to the many aspects of his talent- Latin, Jazz, Classical, Funk and beyond. He has received ten Grammy Awards and numerous honors throughout his esteemed career. As Guest of Honor, Paquito will be performing with several artists at this year's festival including Edmar Castaneda and a special Jazz After Dark show with the Alex Brown Quartet.

One of the festival's biggest highlights will take place on Sunday night when two of the music industry's biggest stars Allen Toussaint and Rita Coolidge will share a stage for the first time ever. Toussaint, who is one of America's greatest musical treasures penned songs like “Working in the Coalmine," “Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky," and “Mother-in-Law." Rita Coolidge has been described as having “the sexiest voice in the world." The two-time Grammy winner is known for hits like “Your Love Has Lifted Me Higher" and “We're All Alone."

And it wouldn't be a festival without a “supergroup." This year's entry is Walter, Roberts & Deitch which puts the Keyboardist from Greyboy Allstars, Guitarist from New Mastersounds and Drummer from Lettuce and Pretty Lights on the same stage. The addition of a horn section will bring an extra element of funk to this super-project. Walter, Roberts & Deitch will perform a set in Town Park as well as a Jazz After Dark show at The Sheridan Opera House.

All 3-day passes holders are invited to enjoy a complimentary wine tasting with over 20 varietals on Friday evening and morning yoga. Tickets sales are on pace for a sellout quickly, so purchase your tickets early (see link below).
