Imagine if Art Tatum was alive and fans could hear him play in person? Imagine if there were no instruments and yet a band could still make music using only their voices? Well, imagine no more as the TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival, running June 20 to June 29, explores these very questions.

Experience Art Tatum as if he was playing live in person on Monday, June 23 at 12 Noon as Zenph Studios creates a re-performance of the legendary album, Piano Starts Here. Using state of the art technology to re-create precisely how musicians play, Zenph Studios has captured every nuance of Tatum's playing transcribing them into note-perfect, high resolution computer files and played back live using a Yamaha Disklavier Pro concert grand piano. Listeners will be transported back to April 2, 1949, and experience Tatum's playing as if they were in the room when the original recordings were made.

Zenph's unique technology turns audio recordings into live performances that precisely replicate the original recording, but offer vastly improved sound quality. These high-resolution MIDI files are calculated to the millisecond timing and capture every note, with details about the pedal actions, volume and articulation. John Q. Walker, President of Zenph Studios, will be on hand for this FREE concert presentation June 23 at Nathan Phillips Square, to discuss this innovative technology and unique re-performance.

Innovation goes one step further this summer when Naturally 7 takes the stage on Sunday, June 29 at 4pm, performing without the use of any instruments. Not just an acappella or beat-boxing group, Naturally 7 creates a full band sound simply using their voices. Described as vocal play, their voices ARE the instruments. From drums, to horns, to guitar the band's ability to mimic various instrument sounds is what sets them apart from all other groups.

Hailing from New York City, this septet summons up soul, rap, rock and folk from their throats in harmonious balance. Most recently they opened for Michael Bubl. With almost 2 million hits on Youtube for their famous subway performance, this is one FREE concert not to be missed at Nathan Phillips Square. Naturally 7 - 100% guaranteed no instruments.
