REQUESTING ARTIST PREVIEW/CD REVIEW/LIVE PERFORMANCE REVIEW
In National Campaign for: Tangria Jazz - Mebane's Eleven

Drummer, Sheryl Mebane, a San Francisco artist draws from her inner spirit and the sights, sounds and experiences of a seasoned composer and performer. As the leader of Tangria Jazz, Mebane is invigorating the jazz scene with her blend of multifarious and harmonically rich blend of instrumental jazz.

The ensemble is proud to release their sophomore effort entitled, Mebane's Eleven. Within this embodiment of works, each player brings an individual style to the group, always keeping Tangria's sound interesting and dynamic. Their influences range from Ellington to Jobim, from Miles Davis to Joe Henderson. Simon Rochester on Rhodes piano draws upon the intricate and lush contributions left by Herbie Hancock and Bill Evans; the intensity, explosiveness and melodic treatments of Tony Williams and Joe Morello are apparent in drummer Sheryl Mebane's playing; and the melodic and soulful contributions of bass players Dave Holland and Charlie Haden are brought forth in Justin Hellman's playing. Honoring their influences, Tangria's fresh, inventive expression reveals a unique identity, especially in their original compositions.

Join Tangria Jazz Trio for a night intimate but compelling improvisation at their weekly performance at the Vignette Restaurant, not just a restaurant but also an elegant and graceful dining room with white linen service that makes for an intimate dining experience. Vignette also has a fully glassed-in private wine room. A perfect way to kick off your Father's Day celebration and as a special note, it will be Mebane's birthday, so come on out a join in the celebration.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
