“Hampton found his vocal soulmate in Bennett and the chemical reaction the two conjure on There Will Never Be Another You is as inventive as it is entertaining"--C. Michael Bailey , All About Jazz

Out of Sight Music is proud to announce the debut of a new one-woman show featuring Sylvia Bennett. Entitled “The Lady and the Legend," international recording artist and Grammy Finalist Sylvia Bennett will transport her audience back in time to reminisce about the life and music of jazz legend Lionel Hampton. This musical documentary features a presentation of songs by Ms. Bennett with Lionel Hampton accompanying her via the magic of video technology.

The show features never-before-seen footage of Ms. Bennett sharing private and public moments over the years as performed and recorded with Lionel Hampton and is based on Bennett's recently released tribute CD/DVD, There Will Never Be Another You

The show will debut on March 21st, 2007 at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in White Plains, NY to benefit the Xavier University of Louisiana Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. Cocktails are at 6:30 pm and the performance begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $100 for the reception and performance and $75 for the performance only. For information about this event contact Joel Sachs (914) 946-4777 [email protected].

Giant of the jazz vibraphone Lionel Hampton and silken-voiced songstress Sylvia Bennett have made some wonderful magic together. Sylvia became the first women to record with Hampton in 30 years. Their album Sentimental Journey on Atlantic Records, was a Grammy finalist in 1987.

The lady and the legend toured together and even became known as presidential favorites, having performed together at the inaugurations of Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush.

People have tried to compare Sylvia Bennett's voice to other great singers of the past and present. Hampton described Sylvia best when he said, “Man, the lady can sing! Her magic gets to the ears and hearts of the audience. Sylvia is truly an original!"

Bennett has performed with the late Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, Jerry Van Dyke, Rita Moreno, David Brenner, Jackie Mason, Dizzy Gillespie, Cab Calloway, Dick Clark, Barry Gibb and Jose Luis Rodriguez (El Puma).
