One of Sydney's popular Jazz music combinations, Viva the duo have been invited to perform some of their special repertoire of French music for a French play on behalf Gosford Regional Gallery and Arts Centre in NSW Australia
The play is called Colette's feast and the setting is at Madame Souty's Caf in Paris, in August 1944. The play is described as a rollicking romp in a Paris cafe theme. Colette's Feast was written by Jill Mather, casting and direction is by Pauline Wright.
Joining Viva the duo for musical performances during the opening and dispersed throughout the play is actor and popular trumpet player, Jiri Kripac. The duo and Jiri Kripac will also be accompanying an enchanting French chanteuse Renee Chanovre.
Renee Chanovre is featured as the regular singer Edith Piaf at Madame Souty's Cafe.
The line up of Viva the duo is Marie Rappolt on musette accordion with midi bass and Peter Rappolt on Spanish acoustic/electric Guitar. Viva the duo perform at many French themed events throughout Australia as portrayed in their see the band page of their website http://www.musicians.net.au
Their repertoire is made up of a diverse repertoire of traditional French songs previously performed by Edith Piaf, Josephine Baker, Charles Trenet etc. They also perform American Jazz music popularized in Paris by: Sidney Bechet, D'jango Reinhardt, Stephane Grapelli and the Hot Club of France.
Colette's Feast is being presented at Laycock Street Theatre at Gosford NSW at 2pm and 7.30pm on Saturday 14th July and Sunday the 15th July 2007.
