Susan Kramer began her love affair with Jazz at age 19, when she began studying at Jazz mobile in Harlem. Then under the direction of Dr. Billy Taylor, she auditioned for and performed with a group put together by John Hendricks. During her years at Jazz Mobile, she also studied with Richard Harper, Carline Ray, and Ron Carter. Shortly thereafter, she began to study with Jazz Master Barry Harris, who was (and continues to be) one of the greatest influences on her musical career.

Since her years at Jazz Mobile, she has worked as a professional Jazz vocalist in Italy, Switzerland, and The U.S. In the U.S. she had the honor of singing with Wynton Marsalis at The House of Tribes (2005). That concert subsequently won the Grammy Award for best Jazz album the following year. She has worked with many great Jazz artists, such as Isaac Ben Ayala, Omar Hakim, Essiet Essiet, Nikki Morero, Charles Eubanks, and pianist, Burt Eckoff (Dakota Staton's Band) and renowned bassist, Bob Cunningham. Susan has been involved in musical theater and received critical acclaim from All About Jazz for her role as “The Wife” in Jeff Loomis's Jazz Operetta, entitled “Boperetta”. Creativity, improvisation, and beauty are at the heart of Susan Kramer’s approach to Jazz.
