Streaming Music Is Getting A Boost From Amazon Echo, Google Home Smart Speakers

If you can say, they can play it. The convenience of listening to music on smart speakers like Google Home,  Amazon Echo and soon the Apple HomePod are poised to provide a boost of new interest in music streaming services like Spotify and Pandora.

A study by Park Associates shared by Pandora found that the adoption rate of smart speakers with integrated voice assistants grew 140% last year alone. Music is one of the leading activities on these devices and, among Pandora’s listeners, listening on smart speakers grow an impressive 282% year-over-year.

A byproduct of the shift from screen-centered to voice-centered technology is the big increase in the time people spend with audio, including music. 7 out of 10 people who own a smart speaker report listening to more audio in the home. 65% say they listen to more music too.
