The Steve Reid Ensemble are set to play an exclusive London show at The Jazz Cafe on Monday 9th November. The cult free-Jazz drummer and percussionist has an illustrious career working with the likes of Miles Davies, James Brown, Sun Ra and Fela Kuti as well as a hugely successful collaboration with Kieran Hebden of Four Tet. Steve Reid and friends will be showcasing tracks from his new album 'In The Rhythms', due to be released in mid 2010 and as well as playing tracks from his seminal 1977 album 'The Odyssey Of The Oblong Square' and 'Daxaar' (Domino). The Odyssey of the Oblong Square is currently being rereleased on Soul Jazz.

“one of the most imaginative percussionists of the decade" --MILES DAVIS

“this is a rhythmic feast" --GILES PETERSON

“much sought after Mustevic album Odyssey Of The Oblong Square Reid recorded at the height of the way-out loft jazz scene movement" --JAZZWISE SEPT 09.

Support comes from Sankorfa - the London- based percussion collective currently giving Portico Quartet a run for their money. Since their conception in 2005, they have swiftly developed a reputation for innovation in performance, composition, collaboration, and education.
