STEVE MARTIN AND THE STEEP CANYON RANGERS ANNOUNCE 2012 TOUR DATES

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers have announced tour dates in support of their #1 bluegrass album, Rare Bird Alert (Rounder Records), which recently received a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album. Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers will make stops at several venues and festivals including a performance at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, CA, as well as multiple nights with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Boston, MA.

The tour comes on the heels of a banner year that saw Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers winning 'Entertainer of the Year' at the 2011 International Bluegrass Association Awards.

In this week's Culture Desk blog for the New Yorker, Martin penned a moving tribute to legendary banjo player Earl Scruggs highlighting his enormous impact on American music and also recounting his personal memories sitting on Scruggs' porch playing the banjo. To read the article, click here.

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
