The Iridium Jazz Club proudly presents STEVE BLUM’S MOLECULAR ORGAN TRIO

Monday, March 30 One show only: 9-10:30 pm Honoring the Great Les Paul 100th Year Celebration

On Monday, March 30th, guitarist Steve Blum’s Molecular Organ Trio will make its exciting debut at the Iridium Jazz Club, and it’s about time. Blum, a native New Yorker, has been performing as a leader, in recording studios and as a preferred sideman for over 40 professional years. Whether he’s making music at a club in The Big Apple or Austin, or playing a festival in Sao Paulo, San Francisco or Montreal “His taste and chops are impeccable…” Blum’s energy, styling, dexterity, harmonic knowledge and honesty on the guitar have become the enduring trademarks of his musical career.

Steve Blum is a master of many styles. He has toured and made records with such giants in Jazz and American Popular Music such as singers Joe Williams (five time Grammy Award Winner) and Peggy Lee (Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award) Blum was Peggy’s preferred guitarist for over five years. But Steve also led the way as an experimental fusionist between underground rock and unconventional jazz as a member of the infamous Master’s of Deceit. This four piece band has its strength in the guitar playing of Steve Blum who successfully unites jazz and psychedelic rhythms. (Billboard) Blum recently returned from a performance as the featured artist in an all-star concert in New Orleans’ Snug Harbor, with Jason Marsalis on drums.

The Molecular Organ Trio will also feature Akiko Tsuruga (Hammond B3) and McClenty Hunter (drums). The show will include classic gems and Blum’s own originals. The trio will also pay tribute to the guitar genius of Les Paul and Wes Montgomery—both mentors for Blum. Since the legendary Les Paul had his residency at the Iridium, the club has continued to present extraordinary guitarists. Steve Blum will join their ranks on March 30th. Mark his words (and your calendar),“There’s going to be a very deep groove going on at The Iridium, a show full of surprises.”
