Squidco is an online mail-order record store, specializing in avant and free forms of jazz and improvisation, eclectic compositional music, and avant rock. Squidco sells CDs, LPs, DVDs, cassettes, books and magazines—cultural artefacts of a fascinating modern music scene steeped in decades of tradition. With a catalog of over 6,000 hard-to-find items, Squidco sells music to thousands of dedicated music fans around the world. Squidco emphasizes fast, friendly service, with low shipping rates. Their website presents an easy interface in which to browse releases, with advanced searching capabilities, wish lists, and a simple and intuitive checkout process. Their staff responds to questions from fans and artists with a considerate and honest attitude. With more than 400 sources for music, Squidco also distributes a large catalog of releases to stores throughout the world.

Squidco's website opened in 2001 running out of upper Manhattan, NYC. In 2010 the business moved to Wilmington, NC, where they have a retail storefront and in-store performance space. Phil Zampino is the owner and manager of Squidco, a dedicated music fan and collector with over 30 years of experience in the music industry, and for many years a mail-order customer himself. With a background in database and commerce, he shaped the website and the programs that manage customer orders to create a simple and thorough process. His belief is that a customer should always be treated in the same way that he would expect to be treated, and his demanding standards have brought Squidco the loyalty of repeat customers who sing praise for the ease with which the service runs.
