Something's Brewing with the Eric Mintel Quartet

Bucks County pianist and composer Eric Mintel and the Eric Mintel Quartet were chosen as one of the 12 finalists in the Search for a New Jazz Star sponsored by Sony Jazz and Euro Jazz Club. One of Eric's compositions titled Japanese Maple will be the cut to make it onto the compilation. Details will be coming soon. “I'm so glad that song has connected with people. I've always tried to tap into the emotional concept with jazz and that particular piece seems to speak to many people", said Mintel from his home in Bucks County, PA. There were hundreds of musicians that entered and over 13 million hits to the web site for voting. Go to the Euro jazz club web site for more info.

Eric Mintel can now be seen in the April issue of Down Beat magazine(on newsstands now)in a story on booking jazz written by Down Beat editor Jason Koransky. The Eric Mintel Quartet are also releasing a new album in April titled Dynamo, the CD will feature 12 compositions, nine of which were written by Mintel. The liner notes for Dynamo were written by famed Philly jazz DJ Bob Perkins currently heard Mon-Fri on WRTI 90.1 FM and on the web at WRTI.org
