On Tuesday July 13th at 8 pm Solitaire Miles will be celebrating the release of her new CD Born to Be Blue at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago with many of the great players on the record including pianist Willie Pickens, trumpeter Art Davis, guitarist Neal Alger, bassist Marlene Rosenberg and drummer Robert Shy.

Scott Yanow recently reviewed the album saying “Throughout this project Solitaire and her musicians are not content to merely recreate the past but are creative within the style, adding to the music's legacy. While Solitaire can name a long list of influences, she does not sound exactly like any of the singers who preceded her. Nor do her sidemen sacrifice their own individuality while doing justice to the material. Instead, they all fully understand the music and are able to add their own voices to the songs while being themselves. This delightful set not only proves that there is still plenty of life to be found in swing tunes, but it features Solitaire Miles at her very best, taking her place as one of the top swing singers around today."

The Jazz Showcase is at 806 South Plymouth Court in downtown Chicago. The show starts at 8 pm and there is a $10 cover.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
