I'm a big fan of '60s sweet soul, so when I was on YouTube over the weekend, I shopped around for rare clips of favorite songs and came up with seven to share with you...

In 1982, singer Denise Williams had a huge hit with It's Gonna Take a Miracle that went to #1 on Billboard's R&B chart and #10 on the Hot 100. Laura Nyro had already covered it in 1971. But the song originally was recorded in 1965 by Sheila Ross and the Royalettes, a Baltimore vocal quartet. Here are the Royalettes...



Here's Barbara Mason from Philadelphia singing Yes I'm Ready,  a #5 hit on the Hot 100 in 1965 and #2 on the R&B chart...



Here's James and Bobby Purify in 1966 singing I'm Your Puppet, which reached #6 on the Hot 100..



Here's Jimmy Ruffin in 1966 singing What Becomes of the Brokenhearted. Jimmy was the brother of the Temptations' David Ruffin. This one went to #6 on the R&B chart and #7 on the Hot 100...



Here's Philadelphia's Brenda (Payton) & the Tabulations in 1968 singing That's in the Past, which failed to chart...



Here are the Winstons, updating their original 1969 hit, Color Him Father, which hit #2 on Billboard's R&B chart and #7 on the Hot 100...



And here are the Intruders in 1968, with Sam Brown on lead vocal singing Cowboys to Girls, which hit #1 on the R&B chart and #8 on the Hot 100...
