SWOJO is composed of many of the leading women jazz players in the Pacific Northwest and fosters a supportive environment for women in jazz. The bands repertoire covers the entire spectrum of big band jazz, from the earliest swing years through bebop, Latin, and contemporary charts. SWOJO proudly features the music of many local composers and arrangers, such as Al Farlow, Jill Townsend, Vern Sielert, Nelda Swiggett, Carmen Staaf, and its musical director, Dr. Daniel Barry.

2004 adds another milestone to the bands list of achievements: the OA2 Records release of SWOJO's Dreamcatcher CD. A collection of live recordings and studio tracks, Dreamcatcher brings together some of the Northwests finest musicians and composers, with a few new twists on old standards added for good measure. In addition to the fine SWOJO players, Dreamcatcher features solo work from tenor saxophonist Sue Orfield, vibraphonist Susan Pascal, and vocalist Greta Matassa.

Four times voted the northwests best jazz vocalist by Earshot Jazz, Greta Matassa (www.gretamatassa.com) is one of the most talented singers working in jazz today. In demand for concert and nightclub appearances, her one-woman show, Ella and Billie, a musical tribute, won her critical acclaim. Her collaborations and guest appearances with Spectrum Dance Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Teatro ZinZanni, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra and the Seattle Mens Chorus have been innovative and successful. Compared with the greats, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita ODay, and Nancy Wilson, Matassa has become one of the hottest tickets on the northwest jazz scene. Greta has released four CDs and a DVD live concert and receives regular national airplay.

Join SWOJO and very special guest artist Greta Matassa for an evening of fine food and dynamic big band jazz, and the opportunity to purchase the Dreamcatcher CD a full week before its official release date! Proceeds to support the Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We hope to see all of you and all your friends at the show! Remember, the Holiday season always arrives before we expect it...wouldn't it be nice to be prepared early to stuff all those stockings with copies of SWOJO's Dreamcatcher CD?
