A powerful tenor saxophonist whose adventurous flights with his longtime band the Fringe have made him a legend in the Boston area, George Garzone has spent most of his life as a jazz educator. He began on the tenor when he was six, played in a family band, and attended music school in Boston. Garzone first formed his trio the Fringe (a group that in the mid-'90s also included founding member Bob Gullotti on drums and bassist John Lockwood) back in 1972. In addition, Garzone has guested in many situations, touring Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and gigging with Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z, and John Patitucci, among others.
Guitarist Christopher Crocco graduated Berklee College of Music, and began pursuing an open and more truthful approach towards playing the guitar. Along with extensive guitar studies, his background includes Jazz & Classical Piano, Mallet Percussion, and Drum Corp. He currently teaches privately in New York City as well as frequent positions within the N.Y.U. Jazz Department and The New School Jazz Department. His fluidity on the instrument is uncompromising. Chris leads a number of groups in New York City and has performed at every major jazz club including Birdland, Blue Note, Smalls, The 55 Bar, Cornelia St. Caf, Siberia, Charlie O's, B.Smith's, Triad Lounge, and Luxia. He has performed on the international scene, including the Terniinjazz Festival, and countless concerts in and around Rome, Italy. In addition Chris has performed with many noted musicians including Dennis Irwin, Jeff Hirshfield, Greg Tardy, Ben Street, George Garzone, Frank Tiberi, Bob Gullotti, Francisco Mela, Antonio Fara, Pete Zimmer, Jeremy Allen, John Sullivan, Rick Margitza, Essiet Essiet, Gerry Gibbs, Eivind Opsvik, Charles Blenzig, Sean Conley, Jeff Davis, Tony Moreno, and Johannes Wallman.
Born in Helsinki, Finland to the family of legendary Bulgarian drummer Peter Slavov Sr, Peter (Petar) Slavov started playing bass when he was twelve. While studying classical music, Peter attempted jazz and soon became the busiest bassist on the scene in Bulgaria, playing at festivals, clubs, concerts, and on radio and TV with the country's finest musicians. He toured Europe extensively during that period. In 1998 Peter received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music, and in 1999 moved to Boston to attend Berklee. Since moving to the United States, Peter Slavov has performed and/or recorded with world-renowned artists, such as Danilo Perez, George Garzone, Joe Lovano, David Sanchez, Darren Barrett, Kevin Mahogany, Greg Osby, Jane Bunnett & The Spirits of Havana, Donald Harrison, Jamey Haddad, Mark Turner, Paquito D'Rivera, Sam Yahel, Luciana Souza, Jason Moran, Eric Harland, Aaron Goldberg, Peter Bernstein, Stefon Harris, Pedro Martinez, Chris Cheek, Simon Shaheen, Dave Samuels, Sophie Milman and Robin McKelle.
