The 3rd Annual Jazz Search West, the Bay Area's only jazz talent search, is coming to Oakland and San Francisco next month.

San Francisco, CA: Jazz Search West (JSW) contestants are gearing up to deliver their best performances at popular Oakland and San Francisco music venues next month. The Bay Area's only jazz talent search for solo instrumentalists and vocalists 15 years and older, Jazz Search West is set to kick off on Monday, March 19 at the world-famous Purple Onion in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco.

“We started Jazz Search three years ago to provide a platform for talented artists to gain visibility and give the public a chance to discover great local jazz talent," said Stacey Hoffman, Executive Director of Living Jazz, Jazz Search West's parent organization. “The prizes we award to the three top performers are intended to help enhance their careers."

Contestants will perform at the venue of their choice in front of a supportive live audience. A panel of prestigious judges comprised of Bay Area jazz professionals not only ranks contestants, but also provides them with valuable, constructive feedback.

Jazz Search West 2012 competitions are scheduled as follows:

March 19, 7-10 pm at Purple Onion in San Francisco

March 21, 7-10 pm at Broadway Studios in San Francisco

March 26, 7-10 pm at Vitus in Oakland's Jack London Square

At the end of each competition, four lucky finalists are selected to move on to the exciting Grand Finale, which will be held March 31st at the beautiful Piedmont Piano Co. in Oakland. All jazz competitions are open to the public and admission is free, except for the Grand Finale, which cost $10 per person.
