ROB MULLINS TO HOST CONCERT AND AWARD SHOW IN LOS ANGELES

Rob Mullins, recording artist, music educator, and author will host the first Annual Planetmullins Awards Ceremony and live band Concert this coming April 27, 2008 at Pierre's Fine Pianos in West Los Angeles as part of his Private Lessons Programs and release of his latest album project “STORYTELLER." This event marks the first time Mullins has combined an awards show honoring outstanding achievement by his music school students along with a live concert by his all star band playing the music from his new album.

“I had the idea to do this a few months ago while getting ready for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards" said Mullins from his recording studio today. “ I have been blessed with a very successful teaching program that I have run on my own in Los Angeles over the past eight years. I have a unique group of adults and kids that strive towards greatness on a daily basis. I wanted to honor some of my students this year with some impactful associations and experiences that other schools don't offer. I feel the uniqueness of my student program which combines music lessons, performance classes, recording studio experience, and exposure in the music business needed to go to the next level."

“When I created the Planetmullins Awards and named the winners earlier this year, I had the opportunity to take several of the winners to special Grammy Events as part of the Grammy's 50 year celebration. Winners attended the Grammys' Tributes to Jazz and Classical Music as well as the Sounds of Change Concert where they were exposed to great performers in concert including Lang Lang, Earl Wilde, Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, Natasha Bedingfield, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Fogerty, and others. Other students received studio time in a professional recording studio with me producing their recordings so that they could have that experience."

Outstanding students will each receive a special Planetmullins Award on April 27 for their dedication to music study through the challenges of life in 2008. The Awards portion of the afternoon will be short, with Mullins making a short speech and then awarding the students. Following will be a short intermission and then a concert by the Rob Mullins Band.

“My live band of this year includes Larry Antonio on acoustic bass, Tiki Pasillas on drums (Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony), and Louis Schwartz on keyboards. We will all be on hand to perform music from my new album “STORYTELLER" for the crowd. This event will serve as the LA CD Release Party for the new album, especially for those who weren't able to make the Pasadena Event in March" Mullins added.

Mullins' new recording has received rave reviews from radio DJ's and jazz critic Scott Yanow as well as from MTAC teachers and Piano Guild members close to the program.

Rob Mullins “STORYTELLER" album is now playing on 88.1 FM KJAZZ in Long Beach California.
