About Richie Goods:
Pittsburgh native and Berklee graduate, Rich Goods is a proverbial renaissance man of todays music industry. Producer, performer, musician, engineer, and lyricist, with roots in Jazz, gospel, funk, and soul, Rich Goods' wealth lies in his ability to combine these talents and influences in ways that bring a long overdue newness to the genres of Jazz and Hip Hop/R&B.
Growing up in the churches of Pittsburgh, he began playing music at the age of five. A love affair with music was only cultivated further while attending the CAPA high school. It was in hometown clubs like the Balcony and O'Rourkes that Goods started his performance career playing the electric bass. Upon graduation from CAPA, he attended Bostons Berklee College of music and expanded his musical repertoire to the upright bass.
Under tutelage of the great jazz bass masters Ron Carter and Ray Brown in New York City, Goods soon proved his own mastery, establishing himself as one of the prominent new bassists in the New York City Jazz community. His abilities did not go unrecognized.
Soon after graduation from Berklee, he began performing and touring with the likes of Milt Jackson, Stanley Turrentine, Mulgrew Miller, Brian McKnight, Russell Malone and The Manhattan Transfer.
Currently, He is on tour with the world renowned HeadHunters" and legendary drummer Louis Hayes. Rich is also the youngest musician to be inducted into the Pittsburgh Jazz Hall of Fame.
But his prowess as a musician extends beyond the realm of jazz as he has performed with many of todays prominent Hip Hop and R&B artists including DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Common, and Alicia Keys. One has only to see his discography to truly appreciate the many facets of this versatile powerhouse. Richies latest release is Richie Goods and Nuclear Fusion Live at the Zinc Bar (Richman Productions).
