One of the most notable aspects of the seventies was the sheer number of epic recordings. Red Llama recording and touring artist Kevin Sandbloom has announced plans to release his interpretation of one of the most critically acclaimed LP's from the era: Joni Mitchell's 1971 Blue album. With plans to release the album this year, Sandbloom plans to capture the spirit of the album while infusing it with a fresh modernity.

“Joni Mitchell is hands down one of the greatest songwriters in the musical canon. With my recording, I hope to stay true to her approach while still expressing my own unique style," says Kevin Sandbloom. “The sensitivity and layers in her music have inspired so many musicians and I am no exception. I look forward to exposing a whole new generation of fans to her work."

The year 2011 will be a busy one for Sandbloom as he puts the finishing touches on Blue. It will be immediately followed by his seventh studio recording of original material, Sugafied. He is excited about the opportunity to pay homage to Joni Mitchell.

“The songs on Blue touched me deeply on a personal and professional level. You'd be hard pressed to find a song writer who doesn't respect Joni Mitchell's legacy. I just want to express how much these songs have meant to me by exposing my audiences to them. My prayer is that I do them justice," says Sandbloom.
