For the first time in almost twenty years, and in one of only three scheduled performances in the United States, Alice Coltrane will lead a stellar lineup of jazz musicians. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center's Alternate Routes series will present music legend Alice Coltrane with Ravi Coltrane, Charlie Haden, and Jack DeJohnette.

The Alice Coltrane Quartet will perform music composed by Mrs. Coltrane in the 1960's and more recent compositions from her 2004 album Translinear Light, in addition to several works by her late husband John Coltrane. Mrs. Coltrane will lead the all-star ensemble on piano, keyboard, and Wurlitzer organ with Ravi Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Charlie Haden on bass, and percussionist Jack DeJohnette, who has been a frequent collaborator with both Mrs. Coltrane and John Coltrane.

Tickets ($22 - $68) are available by telephone at 1-888-GO-NJPAC ( 888-466-5722), at the NJPAC Box Office at One Center Street in downtown Newark, or by visiting the NJPAC website at (see below). NJPAC is as close as a 20-minute ride from Manhattan on New Jersey Transit or by PATH train. Exit at Newark's Penn Station and take NJ Transit light rail ($1.25) to the first stop at NJPAC.
