Reservations are being taken for the concert appearance of the Rale Micic Quintet on Wednesday, May 31 at Blues Alley in Washington.

Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, guitarist and composer Rale Micic (pronounced Rah-leh Mee-chee-ch) skillfully fuses beautiful melodies with timeless jazz.

With his debut album Bridges released on CTA records in 2003, The Boston Globe wrote that Rale Micic created “a cult-like following among music fans with his mix of jazz and haunting melodies from the Balkans."

Jim Santella, reviewer for All About Jazz, wroting about Rale Micic's latest album, Serbia, said “the New York jazz scene, and by extension jazz' modern mainstream, has Rale Micic to thank for a portion of its continued growth." The concert at Blues Alley will largely consist of the songs from this album.

In 1995, Rale Micic immigrated to the United States upon receiving a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied with notables George Garzone, Hal Crook, Bob Brookmeyer and legendary Mick Goodrick.

Other members of the Rale Micic Quintet include Grammy-nominated trumpeter Tom Harrell, tenor saxophonist Bob Reynolds, bassist Sean Conly and drummer and Obed Calvaire.
