If you were looking for some warmth in the deep freeze that caught New York City last week, you could have found it at American-Israeli Jazz singer Lorenn Peer's show. The atmosphere at Makor heated up quickly to the sound of Lorenn's sultry voice, who was accompanied by an all star 6 piece band (The Top Dror Jazz Band) led by Dror Ben-Gur on sax, Benny Koonyevsky on drums, Tomer Levy in trumpet, Debby Kennedy on bass, Brian Troiano on trombone and Yaron Gershovsky, musical director of the Manhattan Transfer vocal group, on piano. The audience, which included renown jazz masters such as bassist Ron Carter, did not leave Makor until Lorenn was called on the stage for three encores, and the house manager hurried to book the rising star for an additional date.
